The Authors’ Salon at Clockwork Alchemy

Join the Treehouse Writers for the Authors’ Salon, a writers’ retreat at the 2018 Clockwork Alchemy convention in Burlingame, CA, at the Hyatt Regency SFO from March 23-25, 2018.

We are planning writing-focused intensive workshops  in addition to subject-specific presentations and the Explorers’ Club Stage.

In our intensives track, we have almost 20 hours of programming that will take you from initiating a story to publishing and promotion.

We are happy to welcome Sumiko Saulson with a discussion of Writing the Other, based on the book by Nisi Shawl.

Harry Turtledove will lead the Worldbuilding workshop, giving you insight into how to create your story world.

Our Author Guest of Honor, Kirsten Weiss, will present “Pacing Like Joss Whedon.”

For some hands-on writing, join Anthony Francis and AJ Sikes for “Write to the End.” Feeling stuck? We’ve got you covered with “Writer’s Block” and “Plot Breaking.”

We also have 16 hours of presentations more geared towards Steampunk and alternate history.

Lillian Csernica will be talking about creating magic systems for fantasy writing.

There will be presentations on Steampunk in teen literature and the science of airships.

Interested in cover art? Kale Lawrence will present “Steamtastic First Impressions.”

If you’re in need of some lighter subjects, David Drake and Katherine Morse will be presenting Steampunk Limericks and “Victorian Underpants (historical inaccuracies)” as well as the ever-popular Hot Potato School of Writing.

More details and the entire schedule of events will be available soon at the Authors’ Salon at Clockwork Alchemy
